Tyler Glasnow ‘Feels Bad’ for Dodgers Fans, Teammates That He Keeps Getting Hurt

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow is as frustrated as everyone else about the latest setback he is currently dealing with. The 31-year-old left last Sunday’s start against the Pittsburgh Pirates with right shoulder discomfort after just one inning. He has since been placed on the injured list.

Since April 2024, Glasnow has dealt with five different ailments starting with cramps last year. In July 2024, the right-hander then dealt with a back injury and just over a month later was sidelined by elbow tendinitis (that later turned into an elbow sprain). He was out for the entire postseason.

In Glasnow’s start against the Texas Rangers on April 20, he exited after four innings because of cramps. Now, the latest injury is to his shoulder.

“I’m just obsessed with trying to figure out what’s going on. And it’s been like this for a few years, and I’m trying to find a way to stay healthy, and I’ll try to do whatever,” Glasnow said last week. “I just don’t really have an answer right now, and I think that’s the most frustrating thing. It’s not a lack of trying. It’s just kind of just getting exhausting at this point. I know it’s probably exhausting for a lot of people, for me especially.. … I feel bad for my teammates. I feel bad for people watching. It’s just … a whole very frustrating situation for me. It’s hard.”

While many hoped the Dodgers pitching staff would be able to avoid several injuries this season, two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell is also on the injured list, meaning L.A. is without two of its key pieces for the foreseeable future.

Glasnow revealed the balance between mechanics and pitching freely is where he has difficulty executing, and could be the reason for his oft-injured status.

“I think it’s just been the constant working through. It’s hard to go out there and not think of stuff. I think making changes, there’s been times where it felt really good, and then it’s just, like, maybe something feels weird, subconsciously something changes, or I lower something. I’m not trying to think about it. It’s that fine line between working on it when you have to, and then going into the game. And then just something, I don’t know what it is, just not syncing up, and then stuff just isn’t feeling good.”
