Tyler Glasnow’s Family Was More Excited Than He Was After Trade to Dodgers
Tyler Glasnow’s first Spring Training with the Los Angeles Dodgers is about to begin. Pitchers and catchers will hold their first full workouts this weekend.
Glasnow, 30, was traded to the Dodgers from the Tampa Bay Rays along with Manuel Margot in exchange for Ryan Pepiot and Jonny DeLuca on Dec. 16. At Saturday’s DodgerFest, Glasnow revealed that his family in particular was very excited about the move.
“My parents were more excited than I was,” Glasnow said.

Glasnow was born in Santa Clarita, California, and attended high school at William S. Hart High School in Santa Clarita. He attended games at Dodger Stadium growing up, and has always wanted to play for his hometown team. Apparently his family shared the sentiment.
The 30-year-old right-hander previously played for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2016-18 and Tampa Bay Rays from 2018-23 before the trade to the Dodgers.
Glasnow’s trade to the Dodgers also came with a huge contract extension. The Dodgers signed him to a five-year, $136.5 million deal.
Glasnow brings a 30-27 record, 3.89 ERA and 1.21 WHIP to the Dodgers. In 2023, Glasnow started an MLB career-high 21 games and posted a 10-7 record, 3.53 ERA and 1.08 WHIP.
Glasnow has dealt with a bevy of injuries that have prevented his career from taking off the way some expected. He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2021 and missed most of the 2022 season, but looks to be feeling a lot healthier now.
If Glasnow can stay healthy, it should pay off big-time for the Dodgers — and the pitcher’s family.
