Video: Dodgers’ Alexander Guerrero Hits Home Run In Winter League

Not many have seen much of Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Alexander Guerrero, especially since he only played in games in Cuba until last week. The Dodgers signed Guerrero mostly off hype, physical size and a small sample size in international play. Well, we got our first chance to see a Guerrero at-bat and it matched the hype.

Guerrero is playing in the Dominican Winter League for the Gigantes del Cibao and played shortstop tonight. The Cuban infielder is playing in his first games since defecting from Cuba earlier this year and the Dodgers are being given their first extended look at their new acquisition.

Today, Guerrero hit his first home run of the season, a deep drive to deep left field off Aguilas Cibaeñas pitcher Sho Iwasaki in the second inning of a 6-2 loss. The 26-year-old is now hitting .429 in four games with the home run and three RBI.
