WATCH: Dodgers’ Cody Bellinger Gets in Beer Chug Race With Christian Yelich

It’s not every day that you get to see two MVP’s chugging beer, but that’s exactly what we got today. The Dodgers’ Cody Bellinger went head-to-head in a beer chug with the Brewers’ Christian Yelich. And who won? We’ll let you be the judge of that one.

Bellinger and Yelich slam down their glasses at nearly the exact same time, even having to go to instant replay to confirm. The two apparently agreed on a basketball shoot-off to decide the winner, and Bellinger brought home the title for the Dodgers’ faithful.

Cody Bellinger took home the NL MVP Award in 2019, and Christian Yelich took it in 2018. The two were head-to-head for most of the season last year, but Bellinger finished with 19 first-place votes as opposed to Yelich’s 10

Yelich did just sign a long-term extension with Milwaukee, which has led fans to ask when or if Bellinger will do the same with the Dodgers. The bigger question for fans though has been what Bellinger will end up getting paid. Yelich got what comes out to a $215 million new deal for nine years.

Experts will have a lot to say over the next few years in terms of what Bellinger will get, but a figure eclipsing $300 million does not seem unlikely. Fans took to Twitter after Yelich’s contract was announced and tried to guess what Cody would be paid eventually. Numbers ranged from $250 million to over $350 million, but the general consensus was that they want the Dodgers to pay the man.

Regardless, two MVP winners going head-to-head in a beer chug competition is pretty great to see. Cody Bellinger and Christian Yelich are sure to be going head-to-head for years to come. But Dodgers fans take this round!

  1. Great publicity stunt for the youngster fans of the game. Should little Leaguers line up the brewskies too? Play ball in public. Do the rest privately.
