Watch Dodgers Outfielder Trayce Thompson Put on a Show Against Team USA in WBC

Trayce Thompson is among Dodgers players representing their countries in the World Baseball Classic. The veteran outfielder was able to join Team Great Britain in the tournament thanks to his father, former LA Lakers’ standout Mychal Thompson being born in the Bahamas.

That connection allowed Trayce to play in the event and he capitalized, putting on a show against Team USA in his first match. Thompson connected on a solo home run in the first inning off long-time Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright, much to the surprise of every one.

With that homer came the first use of the home run crown.

He also connected on a double, going 2-4 in the loss to Team USA in Phoenix. This is the first time Thompson has played in the WBC and the first time Team Great Britain has qualified to play in the WBC. Their very basic uniforms — which were heavily made fun of during the game — might help give that away.

For the Dodgers, it’s a good sight to see Trayce hitting. He’s struggled so far in the early goings of Spring Training hitting just .077 in 6 games. He’s fighting to keep his roster spot secure for Opening Day while guys like James Outman challenge from behind.

Great Britain faces off against Team Canada today. That game will be on FS1 at noon PT.
