Watch: Manny Machado’s First Home Run As A Los Angeles Dodger

The eagle has landed. After 162 career home runs as a Baltimore Oriole, Manny Machado has hit first as a Los Angeles Dodger. We wouldn’t be doing our job of telling the story of the 2018 Dodgers if this wasn’t archived somewhere.

In the sixth inning of Thursday night’s game in Atlanta, Machado homered off Anibal Sanchez. Here it is for your viewing pleasure.

Manny Machado’s First Home Run As A Los Angeles Dodger

Tonight was a great bet for this to happen. Machado entered the game a lifetime 6 for 12 off of the Braves’ starting pitcher with two home runs. It was Machado’s only hit of the evening, but it served as the exclamation point in an 8-2 victory.

While this was a big occasion within the 2018 season – it could go on to be a hallmark moment in Dodgers history. It’s hard to say how many home runs the final tally will be when Machado’s days as a Dodger are finished. Being just 26 years old – if he remains a Dodger beyond this season – he’s going to climb up the franchise list.

The team’s social media group also captured the moment nicely on instagram:

Nevertheless, the win kept the Dodgers from losing three games in a row. The Dodgers are a game and a half up on the Arizona Diamondbacks. Manny is mashing. Times are good right now folks.
