The Los Angeles Dodgers made a massive move in free agency on Tuesday, signing All-Star closer Edwin Diaz to a three-year, $69 million contract.
Diaz is coming off of an All-Star season with the New York Mets, and perfectly fills the Dodgers’ need for a high-leverage reliever in the bullpen. He had a 1.63 ERA through 62 appearances in 2025, and struck out 98 batters through 66.1 innings.
LA struggled out of the bullpen in 2025, finishing 21st in the MLB with a 4.27 bullpen ERA.

With their issues in the bullpen resolved, or at least patched up,Dodgers Nation Doug McKain revealed where the Dodgers should look to further improve this offseason.
What Position Should the Dodgers Sign After Bringing In Edwin Diaz?
According to McKain, the Dodgers’ emphasis for the remainder of the offseason will be in the outfield.
The Dodgers are short an outfielder as things stand, as left fielder Michael Conforto made his exit at the end of the regular season and will likely not return following his disappointing campaign.

Conforto played 132 of his 138 games this season in left field, and failed to produce with the bat throughout the season. The veteran batted a career-low .199 in 2025, posting an OPS below .700 for the first time in his 11-year career.
Who Could the Dodgers Sign in Free Agency?
There isn’t any shortage of potential outfield targets for the Dodgers, and McKain listed several options the Dodgers can acquire through trade and free agency.
McKain listed former Dodger Cody Bellinger, All-Star Kyle Tucker and Harrison Bader as potential free agency signings this winter, with all three having been linked to the Dodgers extensively since the beginning of the offseason.

As far as trades go, McKain listed Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu, Steven Kwan, Luis Robert Jr., Byron Buxton, Brendan Donovan and Lars Nootbar as potential candidates.

Bo Bichette and Jarren Duran will be the next moves IMO.
How About Suarez?
It seems unlikely the Dodgers would sign another closer after landing Diaz, but you never know.
I think Duran is more likely than Bichette, but you never know.
Come on, Roberts, you know better than that. Teoscar Hernandez can’t play right field! The ball comes off the bat much differently when playing right, and he never figured it out. Hernandez played much better in left field, and they won a World Series with him there in 2024. Plus, his offensive numbers were much better playing left. Leave him there! Put Pages in right field, trade for Buxton.
While I agree he’s ill-suited for RF defensively, you can’t really say “they won a WS with Teo in left” without at least acknowledging that they also won one with him in RF, uh, in 2025. And we have no way of knowing if him playing in right had anything to do with his offensive performance. Convenient to say, but is a false cause fallacy. Same with Mookie moving from RF to SS. There is absolutely no proof that one had anything to do with the other. You’re welcome.
Where do you see Mookie Betts playing in 2026: SS, vs. Keystone, vs. RF?
What would be best for the team, since he excels at all three positions?
Do you think playing SS hurt his offensive production in ’25, considering SS is the most
demanding field position (other than catcher), requiring the most practice time, and that
the team needs most his offensive skills to be on-point for 2026? I welcome your thoughts
I would leave Mookie at Shortstop, he has made himself a near Gold Glove caliber defensive player at that position and I think he rebounds with the Bat this coming year.
