The class that the right-hander showed not only in a World Series game, but after a complete game gem is remarkable. For any player to have done the selfless act would have been huge, but it was far from just any ordinary player.

The Dodgers’ ace cleaned up during the game as well, striking out eight, walking zero, and retiring the final 20 Toronto Blue Jays in order. He allowed just four hits across his 105 total pitches.

The Dodgers gave Yamamoto the required run support on Saturday during the 5-1 win, punctuated by a pair of solo home runs from Will Smith and Max Muncy in the seventh inning. The home runs knocked Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman out of the game and came after he retired 17 Dodgers in a row.

Game 3 is on Monday evening at Dodger Stadium with a chance for the defending champions to take a series lead and get closer to their ultimate goal.
