Yoshinobu Yamamoto Discusses Lack of Run Support From Dodgers Offense

Los Angeles Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto has been the one constant in a starting rotation that has remained fluid throughout the 2025 season. The right-hander has given the Dodgers several quality starts, and continued to do so Saturday at Busch Stadium.

Yamamoto threw six scoreless innings against the St. Louis Cardinals. The 26-year-old threw nine strikeouts, issued two walks and four hits.

Despite an outstanding outing from the Dodgers ace, the Cardinals defeated L.A. 2-1. The Dodgers lineup struggled to give Yamamoto any run support, but had several chances to do so throughout Saturday’s game.

The Dodgers, who are the best-hitting team in MLB with runners in scoring position (.301), went 1-for-25 with RISP on Friday and Saturday in St. Louis.

Yamamoto spoke about the lack of run support from the Dodgers offense following Saturday’s outing.

“That is part of baseball,” Yamamoto said through his interpreter. “Sometimes they have my back. Sometimes they struggle and I try to give what I’ve got for the team. It’s just part of the game.”

Yamamoto is 6-4 this season with a 2.20 ERA, 86 strikeouts and 1.005 WHIP across 73.2 innings pitched. While the right-hander has been one of the most effective pitchers in the National League, his win record may not reflect that.

In six of Yamamoto’s starts, the game has been decided by just one run. Nevertheless, the Dodgers seemed to get back on track by scoring seven runs in the series finale against the Cardinals Sunday.

  1. Hang in there “Mr.Moto” as the Dodgers’ offense seems to be back on the upswing. They may relax a little because you are so good! They will be up for the “Madres” and their big mouths…
