2 Disparaged Dodgers Lead Team in Playoff Win Over Braves

Despite enduring criticism this season, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielders Teoscar Hernández and Kyle Tucker proved the difference in Game 1 of the National League Division Series.

Hernández and Tucker were the only Dodgers with multiple hits, and they each hit two-run home runs on Saturday to give LA a 5-3 win over the Atlanta Braves.

How did Teoscar Hernández and Kyle Tucker play against the Braves?

Both outfielders were 2-for-4 against the Braves, with Hernández blasting a two-run home run in the fourth inning and Tucker hitting another in the sixth inning.

Outside of Max Muncy’s solo home run a couple of batters after Tucker, Hernández and Tucker essentially were the Dodgers offense.

Their combined four hits matched the rest of the Dodgers’ combined four hits.

It’s a marked turnaround for the corner outfielders, who’ve taken plenty of heat for their offensive performance this season.

How have Teoscar Hernández and Kyle Tucker played in 2026?

Both players have performed beneath their typical standards in 2026, with Tucker drawing heat for failing to live up to his huge contract and Hernández the subject of rumors that he’d be platooned.

For the bulk of August, Hernández hit .211/.259/.303, though he was far from the only Dodger slumping that month.

Fortunately, Hernández, Tucker and many other Dodgers made adjustments in a much stronger September.

Now, it appears those changes have carried over to the postseason.

What did Game 1 mean for Teoscar Hernández and Kyle Tucker?

Many Dodgers fans already have fond memories of Hernández, but for Tucker, a first-year Dodger, establishing a resume of playoff performances in Dodger Blue is something that could help erase memories of a tough regular season.

On Saturday, Tucker’s home run did exactly that, and Hernández reasserted himself as a dominant postseason hitter.

This game will bolster both players’ confidence, and if the typical Dodgers superstars can regain their usual form, the Dodgers will be in great position to once again compete for a pennant and a world championship.
