Clayton Kershaw Gets Rave Reviews After NBC Debut

Los Angeles Dodgers legend Clayton Kershaw hung up his pitching glove and exchanged it for a broadcast headset on NBC.

Kershaw announced his retirement in the twilight of 2025, marking the end of his storied career.

He got his last Dodger Stadium moment as a player during his final home start, making a postseason appearance, and ending his career with a World Series title.

Despite his career ending on such a high note, Kershaw suited up on a baseball field one last time for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic.

Now that the tournament is over and the MLB is starting, Kershaw is officially out of the cleats and wearing a full-on suit as an analyst for NBC’s return to baseball.

As is the case with any former player entering the booth, there was speculation of how well Kershaw would do, even though he was a brilliant player on the field.

The southpaw, however, delivered an amazing performance by all accounts, giving a quality breakdown of what was going on during the game.

Reactions to Clayton Kershaw’s NBC Debut

“The one thing I really enjoyed from tonight’s game, other than the game and the W of course, was how good Kershaw is at the analyst work. The dude is just a baseball nerd that loves and breathes the game and he’s also really good at explaining and describing the game. Loved it!” @organista24 wrote on X.

“Kershaw was great as usual. He’s never at a loss for words & his insight is spot on. Overall, I thought the broadcast was good,” @scouter34 added.

“Clayton Kershaw was soooo good as an analyst tonight! Can’t wait to watch him this season,” @Ashley_H_Knight said.

“Loved every second of Clayton Kershaw on the broadcast. He’s going to have a fine post-playing career on TV,” MichaelJBier wrote.

While Kershaw had a great debut, he did have home-field advantage — both literally and figuratively.

He had great knowledge of the Dodgers, a team he has been part of his whole life, and of all the players, except Kyle Tucker and Edwin Diaz, are well known to the former pitcher.

Kershaw will be covering teams he will not be familiar with, either because he did not regularly face them, like the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Texas native will get tested by his new job over his next appearances.
