Clayton Kershaw Reveals What Makes Dodgers Special After Repeat World Series Win

The Los Angeles Dodgers became the first team to win back-to-back World Series championships since 2000, taking an electric Game 7 win against the Toronto Blue Jays to secure their second title in as many years.

The Dodgers have put together stunning seasons over the last two years, bringing in loads of talent to accent their already strong squad to remain contenders. Starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw explained why the Dodgers are special and able to succeed.

“You know everybody talks about the Dodgers and how much money we spend and how we’re supposed to do this and all that stuff,” Kershaw said. “But I tell you what, man – you can’t buy the character and the heart and the willingness to do things that other people would not. All the way down our lineup. What Will Smith did – to catch 18 innings, catch a whole game, come up with a big home run. Mookie playing shortstop. Freddie doing what he does. It’s all our superstars.

“There’s a lot of superstars in this game but I don’t think they’re all like that. I don’t think they’re all willing to do whatever it takes for their team. That’s what makes us special. That’s what makes this team special. We have a lot of superstars, but they’re willing to do whatever it takes to help us win the World Series. You saw that tonight.”

The Dodgers superstars during Game 7 were on full display, with several players stepping up in crucial moments to deliver the World Series trophy to Los Angeles once again.

Smith had a huge game for the Dodgers, scoring two of their five runs and hitting the go-ahead homer in the top of the 11th inning. Shohei Ohtani, despite a rough start on the mound, reached base three times in the game. Yoshinobu Yamamoto is the most obvious of the Dodgers’ stars who stepped up, pitching 2.2 scoreless innings to end the game without a day of rest from his Game 6 start.

The Dodgers have the star power to compete with anyone in the league, and the clutch factor each of their players hold is invaluable to the team. They’ll look to continue their dominance over MLB in 2026, as they chase their third straight World Series title.
