Former Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Trevor Bauer signed with the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball’s Long Island Ducks.
Bauer won the Cy Young with the Cincinnati Reds during the shortened 2020 season before signing a three-year, $102 million deal to play for the Dodgers in 2021, which would prove to be his final season in MLB. He made 17 starts with the Dodgers, posting a 2.59 ERA through 107.3 innings, and struck out 137 batters.
Throughout his 10-season MLB career, Bauer made 222 starts and had a 3.79 ERA. He made an All-Star Game in 2018 with Cleveland. He struck out batters at an extremely high rate during his time in MLB, recording 1,416 Ks through 1,297.2 frames.
MLB cut Bauer’s time with the Dodgers short July 2, 2021, placing him on administrative leave after opening an investigation on the pitcher due to sexual assault allegations made against him. Bauer received a 324-game suspension following the investigation in April 2022, which he reduced to 194 games after an appeal.
Bauer didn’t get to make his comeback following the suspension, as the Dodgers designated him for assignment and released him after the 2022 season.
After the Dodgers let him go, Bauer tried his luck overseas. He pitched for NPB’s Yokohama DeNA BayStars in 2023 and 2025, with a one-year stint with the Mexican League’s Diablos Rojos del México in between.
Now with the Ducks, Bauer will to make his first appearance for an American professional team since playing with the Dodgers, and will start in their Opening Day game on April 21.

Who Are the Long Island Ducks?

Bauer is one of two former MLB players on their current roster, the other being outfielder Jacob Robson—who had a cup of Coffee in the majors with the Detroit Tigers in 2021.
Former MLB outfielder Lew Ford also serves as the team’s manager.
