Dodgers’ Andrew Friedman Confirms LA’s Interest in Adding Another Reliever
The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a number of moves this offseason, but president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman confirmed the team is still searching for another reliever.
“If we can add an additional reliever, that helps increase the chances of us not going to market in July,” Friedman said at the Winter Meetings. “So, yeah, I could see us looking to do that. Now, it doesn’t mean we’ll be able to, but I could see us looking.”
The Dodgers were originally linked to change-up specialist Devin Williams, who has a career 1.83 ERA in 241 games. He saved 65 games in 141 innings over the last three seasons. His resume made him a strong candidate for the Dodgers to sign; however, Williams was surprisingly acquired by the New York Yankees.
“I kinda thought I’d be going to L.A.,” Williams said during his introductory press conference. “That was what I was being told. And the Yankees snuck in there under the table and got the deal done.”
Now that Williams is off the board, many baseball experts have speculated that the Dodgers will likely try to sign free agent reliever Tanner Scott. In 2024, Scott posted a 1.75 ERA with 84 strikeouts across 72 innings.
It will likely be revealed in the coming weeks whether the Dodgers will sign another high-leverage arm, but it’s evident the team is hoping to avoid any last minute trades at the deadline.
“We’ve made some moves that have set a real strong foundation for a successful team,” general manager Brandon Gomes said at the Winter Meetings. “Now we’ll take the next couple weeks leading up to spring training to explore what’s out there.”
“We’ll continue to try to make moves we feel are needle-movers. Whether that’s impact moves, or depth moves, all those play into our quest to repeat.”
The Dodgers also have to address a need in the outfield. It remains uncertain whether Teoscar Hernández will be back in Dodgers uniform next season, but he is still an option for the Dodgers at this point in time.

Tanner Scott would be phenomenal!
That would be great but please NO Kenley reunion.
Don’t forget Kike Hernandez for the rare blowout game. He can throw a strike or two. Love that guy!
