Dodgers Auctioned Off Aaron Judge’s Dropped Fly Ball From World Series, And It Sold For Massive Amount
The New York Yankees haven’t lived down their defensive debacle in Game 5 of the World Series. Although there were several defensive mishaps for the Yankees in the fateful fifth inning, the most memorable was a fly ball from Tommy Edman that was directly hit to Aaron Judge in center field — and was dropped by the AL MVP.
Judge’s dropped ball was the first of several catastrophic plays that lost the Yankees their 5-0 lead. The Dodgers would go on to clinch the Fall Classic with a 7-6 triumph in the Bronx.
Just over a month after the Dodgers won the World Series — in large part thanks to the Yankees’ poor defensive performance — the Dodgers have put Judge’s dropped ball up for auction… seriously. Even crazier, the ball sold for a whopping $43,510.
The close date for the item was on Thursday, Dec. 12, and it was open starting on Dec. 2.
Most Dodgers fans have continued to replay the events of the fifth inning, but it’s likely something most Yankees fans hope to forget. Nevertheless, the Dodgers put the ball up for auction as a memento of New York’s failure — and it sold for a hefty price.
