Dodgers’ Blake Snell’s Wife Shares Scary Hateful DM After NLCS Loss

The wife of Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell is speaking out after she received a threatening message purportedly related to her husband’s performance on Wednesday.

What threat did Haeley Snell receive?

Haeley Snell posted an Instagram story on Wednesday night, shortly after the Dodgers fell into a 3-0 hole against the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series.

The message from the account @fernan0177, which is private and says it belongs to someone named Kavidies Fernan, reads as follows:

“It’s simple: tell that son of a b— to back off before October 20th. Otherwise, I’ll cut off your fingers, one by one. I don’t care about spending 40k to track you down, you b—. He has until October 20th. Consider yourself warned.”

It’s easy to assume that Fernan is referring to Blake Snell here, something Haeley seemed to confirm with her caption: “Tell me you lost a sports bet without telling me you lost a sports bet.”

It’s unclear, though, what the significance of Oct. 20 is. That day follows what would be Game 7 of the NLCS if the Dodgers somehow win all three of their next games.

Presumably, Snell would be the Game 7 starter, so by that point, he would have pitched again already.

That said, it’s probably too much to expect accuracy from someone who DMs threats to family members of a baseball player from a largely anonymous account with only two followers.

How did Blake Snell play against the Brewers in Game 3?

While it’s true that Snell gave up a pair of devastating home runs in the seventh inning, it’s hard to criticize his performance through the first six.

Yes, he gave up a home run on the first pitch, but he answered that challenge with three straight strikeouts and nine total Ks.

Outside of the three homers, he allowed only one other hit and walked just two batters.

By the end of the sixth inning, the Dodgers had a 2-1 lead thanks to Will Smith’s bases-loaded double, and it felt like the Dodgers faithful had more hope than they’d had at any other point during this series.

As has often been the case this season, the biggest issue was the Dodgers’ lack of offense, especially with runners in scoring position.

Outside of Smith’s big hit, the Dodgers were 0-for-5 with RISP, leaving eight runners on base Wednesday night.

Even if Snell had been wholly responsible for the loss and the Dodgers’ struggles in this NLCS, though, messaging threats to players or their families is beyond the pale. Don’t be that guy.
