Dodgers’ Bobby Miller Hit in Head by Line Drive, Exits Cactus League Opener

It was a scary moment for Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Bobby Miller as a 106 mph line drive hit him in the head on just his 12th pitch of the spring.

Miller, who was brought in to face the top of the Chicago Cubs lineup in the top of the third inning, fell to the ground holding his head after former Dodger Michael Busch drilled him with a comebacker.

The ball ricocheted off Miller into the outfield.

Thankfully, Miller stood up and walked off the field under his own power.

Miller entered the contest hoping to begin the next chapter of his career after a tough 2024 season that saw him dealing with shoulder pain and struggling with his mechanics.

By the end of the year, a team in need of starting pitching decided he couldn’t secure a spot in their postseason rotation. Just a year after starting Game 2 for the Dodgers, the team went on to win the World Series without Miller being part of the postseason roster.

Miller’s season debut seemed to play off his stellar debut in 2023 and he delivered the best performance of his career — striking out 11 over six scoreless innings against St. Louis.

But despite the Dodgers’ struggles to find consistent starters, Miller pitched his way out of the rotation. He was sent down to the minors for good in September, finishing with an 8.52 ERA in 13 starts, ranking last among the 170 pitchers who logged at least 50 innings.

Hopefully this doesn’t set Miller back too much and he can get back on the mound soon.
