Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Hunter Feduccia caused a brief delay in Tuesday night’s game against the Colorado Rockies when he ran off the field in the middle of an inning.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Feduccia stood up to throw the ball to third after a strikeout, then appeared to remove his mask and vomit near home plate.
The broadcast cameras did not capture Feduccia actively being ill, only the immediate lead-up and aftermath.
Manager Dave Roberts later confirmed the vomiting and said the leading theory is a stomach bug or food poisoning, reports Maddie Lee of the Los Angeles Times.

“We are just trying to hydrate him, he’s got this stomach bug/food poisoning, something like that, he was scuffling all game, he want as long as he can go, obviously he will be down tomorrow, but he gave a great effort,” Roberts said.
Fellow catcher Ben Rortvedt came in to catch following Feduccia’s illness.

Before his apparent illness, Feduccia had played reasonably well.
He as 0-for-1, but he walked twice and scored a run.
How did Ben Rortvedt do in Feduccia’s place?
Rortvedt stayed in through the end of the game, a 7-6 win for the Dodgers.

He only came up to bat once, and he struck out that time, but by that point, the Dodgers had already done plenty of damage on offense.

He also caught for Edgardo Henriquez, Evan Phillips and Tanner Scott as they closed out the win.
Phillips and Scott ended up giving up a run apiece, but Scott ended up with the save, his 17th of the season.
The Dodgers (76-51) have now won the first two games of the three-game series, and they’ll go for the sweep of the Rockies (50-76) on Wednesday.
Roki Sasaki (5-5, 4.46 ERA) starts on the mound for the Boys in Blue, while Kyle Freeland (4-10, 6.27 ERA) starts for the Rockies.
First pitch from Coors Field is set for 5:40 p.m. PT, and the game will be broadcast on SportsNet LA.
