The Los Angeles Dodgers didn’t introduce a new starter into their rotation for their series against the Seattle Mariners, meaning they’ll move forward with five starters for the time being.
The Dodgers are fresh off of a successful road trip on the East Coast, during which they went 6-3 while winning all three of their series. They return home for a three-game series against the Mariners, who have fallen down the standings over the past few weeks and currently sit a few games below .500.
Who Will Start Against the Mariners?
Tuesday, July 28
Justin Wrobleski will start things off for the Dodgers, and is entering the game on plenty of rest after a full week between starts. He has been fantastic for the Dodgers this season, earning an All-Star appearance and cementing his spot in the starting rotation with a 2.62 ERA through 17 appearances on the year.
He will face Luis Castrillo, whose results haven’t been anything close to what he’s shown in previous years. Castillo has a negative bWAR for the first time in his career, posting a career-worst 4.85 ERA through 19 appearances so far this year.
Wednesday, July 29
Eric Lauer will pitch in the second game of the series, coming off of yet another serviceable start in a Dodgers uniform. Lauer has been solid since joining the Dodgers from the Toronto Blue Jays, posting a 3.35 ERA through eight appearances since LA grabbed him off waivers. He is yet to lose a game as a Dodger, and hasn’t allowed more than three runs for the team.
The Mariners have Emerson Hancock on the mound for the second game of the set, though the right-hander may have bigger things on his mind. ESPN’s Jeff Passan announced that the 3.16 ERA right-hander is expected to be traded at Aug. 3’s deadline.
Thursday, July 30
In the final game of the series, Roki Sasaki will aim to maintain his brilliant form since the All-Star break. Sasaki’s last outing came against the New York Mets, and he allowed just one run through seven innings while striking out nine batters. In his previous appearance, he allowed one unearned run through 5.2 innings.
On the year, Sasaki has a 4.71 ERA to go with 94 strikeouts in 93.2 innings pitched.
Bryce Miller is Sasaki’s opponent for the final game of the series, and he has taken a huge step forward for Seattle after a disappointing season in 2025. He has a 2.75 ERA through 12 appearances, striking out 71 batters in 68.2 innings pitched. He hasn’t been as unhittable in July, though, allowing more than five runs on two occasions.
