Sound the trumpets because Edwin Diaz is officially a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The multi-time All-Star closer was formally introduced to Los Angeles on Friday afternoon by front office figureheads Andrew Friedman and Brandon Gomes.

The man they call “Sugar” offered up some very intriguing and heartfelt sentiments as to why he opted to come out to Los Angeles rather than stay in New York with the Mets. He also caught up with the Dodgers social media team offering a quick statement to those who support the franchise.
With a massive smile, it’s quite evident that Diaz is elated over being a member of the Dodgers.
“Hey Dodgers fans, I’m here! I’m really excited to be here. I’m ready to win games. Let’s go, Dodgers!” he said in a message to LA fans.
Diaz touched on several different topics. There was an element of surprise that he ended up in Los Angeles considering the track record Diaz had in New York. Those in Queens grew to love him, and being one of the Mets prominent team leaders, losing him has to be a major blow.
Ultimately, the allure of winning at the highest level with the league’s best team seems to have been a motivating factor for the decision to come across the country.

“Yes, the truth is that it is going to be super exciting when the trumpets sound here in Dodger Stadium. I think it is going to be something special,” Diaz said. “I imagine it will be a big show. And being part of this winning organization, you are going to be champions, I feel all happy to be here. It’s an opportunity in my career with a team that is super good. I come to contribute, I come to try to win, to help, to contribute my, what I know in the bullpen, with the young guys. And at the end of the day, you want to win and I think that here I have a good opportunity to win.”
