The Los Angeles Dodgers finally have their NLDS opponent: the Atlanta Braves.
The Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves needed Game 3 to settle the Wild Card series. Both teams were pushed to the limit, deploying their best arms and playing as much baseball as possible.
The Dodgers, meanwhile, can sit back and rest their very veteran roster for what will be the first step of a possible three-peat.
The Braves won 6-2, and they still needed to use quite a few arms to get the job done. They have a little more than a day until their next test
Dodgers Playoff History vs. Braves
In the Andres Friedman era, the Dodgers have faced the Braves three times, in 2018, 2020, and 2021.
The 2018 series was in the NLDS, funny enough, and the Dodgers beat a raw and young Braves team 3-1.
It was Ronald Acuna Jr.’s rookie year, and it was an early version of the playoff powerhouse Atlanta would become.
The Dodgers had Manny Machado on the team, signaling just how long it has been since this series.
The next matchup would be in 2020, the year the Dodgers won the World Series. The Dodgers were down 3-1 in the NLCS, but managed to win three straight games to get over the top.
The following year, the Braves got their payday, upsetting a 106-win Dodgers team 4-2 that was one of the best in this golden era.
Atlanta went on to capture the World Series. It was a rough loss for the Dodgers, one of the many heartbreaks that would fuel and build the team up to the current three-peat-seeking team.
