Dodgers Finally Have Update on Kirby Yates Signing After Long Delay
There is finally an update in Kirby Yates’ reported signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
MLB insider Mark Feinsand reported Yates passed his physical, which means the final hurdle has been cleared for his signing.

Shortly thereafter, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported the agreement has been finalized. It’s a one-year, $13 million deal, with incentives that can reach up to $14 million.
The Dodgers will have to clear a 40-man roster spot for Yates.
Yates is a two-time All-Star who’s yet another major signing for the Dodgers this winter.
The 37-year-old is coming off the best season of his MLB career, as he made 61 appearances, sporting a 1.17 ERA over 61.2 innings with 85 strikeouts.
Yates was the Texas Rangers’ closer, and he delivered with 33 saves and a second All-Star honor. His first All-Star nod came in 2019 as a member of the San Diego Padres.
Yates has spent 10 seasons in MLB with the Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Angels, Padres, Atlanta Braves, and Rangers. Now, he’ll look to earn a World Series championship with the Dodgers, who won their eighth title in franchise history just a few months ago.
Yates will join a bullpen that already made arguably the biggest reliever addition of the offseason, signing left-handed reliever Tanner Scott on a four-year, $72 million deal.
Scott and Yates will join a bullpen that willed L.A. to the World Series in 2024, and will pitch alongside the likes of Blake Treinen, Michael Kopech, Evan Phillips, Alex Vesia, and Anthony Banda in 2025.
