Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman revealed how he plans to ramp up for the regular season during spring training.
The All-Star said he won’t feature for L.A. until the fourth game of Cactus League play against the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday, and aims to reach 47 plate appearances by the end of spring training.
Additionally, Freeman said he wants to play in all 162 regular season games. He has played in more than 100 games every season since 2011, barring the pandemic-abbreviated 2020 season.
Freeman got to work early to ensure he was fit for the Dodgers’ three-peat campaign in 2026, as he began working out just four days after the Dodgers’ World Series parade in Nov. 2025. The future Hall of Famer has all spring to ramp up for the season, as he will not feature in the 2026 World Baseball Classic for Team Canada due to a personal matter.

How Important is Freddie Freeman to the Dodgers?
Since joining the Dodgers ahead of the 2022 season, Freeman has been one of their most productive offensive players.
He has a .907 OPS as a Dodger, and has hit at least 20 home runs during each of his seasons in L.A. He’s made the All-Star team and received MVP votes in all four of his seasons with the Dodgers, and has been an integral part to their postseason success over the past couple of seasons.
The former MVP has hit a walk-off home run in each of the last two World Series, and earned his first World Series MVP in 2024.
Freeman hit 24 home runs in 2025 — his second-most as a Dodger — and logged 90 RBIs while posting a .869 OPS and finished third in the NL Batting Title race, recording hits at a .295 clip.
Where Will Freddie Freeman Bat in the Order After Kyle Tucker’s Arrival?
Manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday he was still figuring out the batting order, but that he wanted Shohei Ohtani to lead off and Mookie Betts to bat third.
Kyle Tucker — the Dodgers’ biggest offseason signing — will likely occupy the No. 2 spot, with Freeman taking control of the cleanup spot.
Freeman will look to maintain his consistent production for the Dodgers as they pursue a third consecutive World Series championship.
