Dodgers Free Agent Michael Conforto Gaining Interest From AL Team

The Chicago White Sox have shown interest in former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Michael Conforto this offseason, per the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.

Conforto, 32, spent the 2025 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers after signing a one-year, $17 million deal last December. His season didn’t exactly go to plan, posting the worst season of his MLB career across the board.

What Happened With Michael Conforto in 2025?

The 2017 All-Star began the season well enough with the Dodgers, but things took a nosedive for the veteran in April. He batted .123 throughout the month, driving in just two runs on two solo home runs, and failed to make any meaningful contribution to the office.

Things wouldn’t improve either, as he finished the season with a batting average below the Mendoza Line and a .638 OPS — the first time he had finished under .700 in that regard throughout his 10-year MLB career.

Conforto also had an abysmal season on defense, with his defense continuing a downward trend that started in 2020. He finished the year with a minus-8 fielding run value and outs above average, ranking him in the eighth and fifth percentiles of MLB, respectively.

Why Do The White Sox Want Michael Conforto?

While Conforto had the worst season of his MLB career in 2025, there is — oddly enough — some upside to the veteran heading into 2026.

The 32-year-old maintained the 77th percentile bat speed he’s showcased throughout his career, and his expected weighted on-base average (xwOBA) — a stat which measures the quality of batted balls — of .330 ranked above average last season.

Chicago ranked 24th in MLB in terms of wRC+ among their outfielders last season, so bringing in Conforto, who is looking to re-establish his market, on a one-year deal to prove himself heading into next offseason could very well be the opportunity he needs to get his career back on track.

What Have the Dodgers Done Without Michael Conforto?

The Dodgers weren’t likely to sign Conforto this offseason, but they have done more than enough to replace him this offseason.

L.A. signed All-Star free agent Kyle Tucker to a four-year deal Thursday, rounding out their outfield and giving them one of the strongest — if not the strongest — lineups in MLB.

Only time will tell if the Dodgers’ moves will pay off, but they’ve definitely taken the right steps towards yet another World Series championship in 2026.
