Dodgers Free Agent Pitcher Signs With NL West Rival
The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed former Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander J.P. Feyereisen to a minor league contract, as confirmed by the team’s Triple-A affiliate, the Reno Aces.
Feyereisen had four stints with the Dodgers last season, including making the Opening Day roster for their series against the San Diego Padres in Seoul, South Korea.
However, he struggled in limited opportunities, appearing in four games and allowing 10 runs on 11 hits while recording just 10 outs.

Because he pitched in at least one game for Los Angeles in 2024, he is officially considered a World Series champion.
After missing the entire 2023 season due to shoulder surgery, Feyereisen returned in 2024, finishing 0-1 with an 8.18 ERA and converting his only save opportunity. Over 11 innings, he struck out nine, walked five, and hit one batter. He later accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he posted a 5.48 ERA in 33 appearances, striking out 33 and walking 13 across 42.2 innings.
Originally acquired by the Dodgers in a December 2022 trade with the Tampa Bay Rays, Feyereisen made his MLB debut in the shortened 2020 season, pitching six relief appearances for the Milwaukee Brewers. His breakthrough came in 2021 when he posted a 3.26 ERA over 19.1 innings with Milwaukee before being traded to Tampa Bay alongside Drew Rasmussen in the deal that sent Willy Adames to the Brewers.

In Tampa Bay, Feyereisen thrived, posting a 2.45 ERA across 36.2 innings and finishing the season with a 2.73 ERA over 55 innings. However, his 14.1 percent walk rate contributed to a 4.21 FIP, signaling some underlying concerns.
He took a major step forward in 2022, beginning the season with a dominant 24.1 scoreless inning streak. During that stretch, he reduced his walk rate to 5.8 percent while striking out 29.1 percent of batters. His FIP stood at 1.67, with a 2.93 SIERA, marking the best stretch of his career before injuries sidelined him.
Perhaps, the D-backs will be a better fit for Feyereisen as he attempts to continue his career in the NL West.
