Dodgers Informed Tyler Glasnow He Won’t Be Traded This Offseason

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow addressed rumors of being included in a potential Tarik Skubal trade.

Over the MLB Winter Meetings, ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez floated Glasnow as a name who could be a part of a package for Skubal. Glasnow is still signed on for two more seasons, while his 2028 season includes a $30 club option for the Dodgers, which becomes a $21.56 million player option.

At the age of 32, the righty still has quality stuff on his pitches, and when his command is in tune, Glasnow is a premier arm.

However, he has remained quite injury-prone over the years and is trending down from his former self.

According to Gonzalez, the Dodgers were not actively shopping Glasnow, but they were not opposed to trading him if the right deal came along, namely the opportunity to acquire a two-time Cy Young winner.

While the rumor circulated for a few days, the pitcher did an interview where the speculation came up.

“I obviously have seen the Skubal stuff, and I think that seems to be relatively real. I’ve also seen some rumors where I would get traded for him, so it’s like, I don’t know what to believe,” Glasnow said on Sirius XM.

“I talked to Andrew and our front office and they were like, ‘No, you’re not going anywhere.’ They told me I’m not going to get traded, and I trust them. So that’s obviously a nice feeling.”

Glasnow has a 3.37 ERA with a 30.9 percent strikeout rate in 40 starts, along with a 1.69 ERA in six postseason games.

As a middle of the rotation arm, Glasnow is undoubtedly a luxury piece for the Dodgers, who boast the best rotation in baseball. As he continues to age, Los Angeles will need to be careful how they manages their prized arm if he does in fact stay.

His playoff pedigree and measurable should allow him to continue adding value, as the massive pitcher generates a good deal of spin and velocity from his long extension.

His team-friendly deal also helps his case to stay on the team as they push the dynasty forward.
