Dodgers Lose Out On All-Star in Shocking Trade: Report
With the trade deadline quickly approaching, the Los Angeles Dodgers will have to look elsewhere to acquire infield help. Los Angeles missed out on a chance to land All-Star infielder Isaac Paredes of the Tampa Bay Rays.
According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Chicago Cubs landed Paredes ahead of the trade deadline. Chicago seemingly came out of nowhere to trade for the All-Star.
The right-hander was being heavily linked to the Dodgers as early as this morning. But Chicago found a way to sneak into the bidding and closed the deal.
With the plethora of injuries to the infielders on the roster, Los Angeles has been looking to make updates on the diamond. Paredes has hit .245 with 16 home runs and 55 runs batted in over 101 games.
Los Angeles has been expected to be one of the more active teams at the trade deadline and has been connected to multiple names around the league. The Dodgers likely want to add more starting pitching help and an infielder to shore up some weaknesses.
With the deadline coming up on Tuesday, the Dodgers have some work to do. They have seen the San Diego padres scratching and clawing back into the NL West race so addressing all needs has become more of a priority.
