Dodgers Make Few Roster Moves Ahead of Series Finale In Detroit

The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated right-hander Brett Honeywell ahead of their series finale against the Detroit Tigers. In a corresponding move, the Dodgers have optioned right-hander Ricky Vanasco, the team announced.

Honeywell was activated one day after the Dodgers claimed him off of waivers. He previously spent the 2024 season with the Pittsburgh Pirates, posting a 2.70 ERA across 3.1 innings of action. Honeywell also pitched 39 innings of Triple-A this season, posting a 4.85 ERA and 33 strikeouts.

Vanasco heads back to Triple-A Oklahoma City after just one game back in the major leagues. His appearance did not go well, as Vanasco gave up three earned runs during the Dodgers’ 11-9 extra innings loss to the Detroit Tigers on Saturday.

He also appeared in a game this season for the Dodgers on April 15, giving up zero earned runs in two innings. In Triple-A this season, he has a 3.63 ERA.

The Dodgers have additionally moved Yoshinobu Yamamoto to the 60-day injured list. Yamamoto has been out for nearly a month with a strained rotator cuff, making his last start on June 15. He has begun to make considerable progress in his recovery so far, having begun his throwing program earlier this weekend.

  1. Unbelievable that the Dodgers have to start a pitcher that has been on the team less than 24hrs! Also another Tommy John surgery pitcher! Seems like they should do better than this or the Dodgers will be eliminated early again in the playoffs. Ssme thing every year!
