Dodgers Meet With Kyle Tucker as LA Emerges as Frontrunner

The Los Angeles Dodgers have met with All-Star free agent Kyle Tucker during their pursuit of the outfielder this offseason, according to MLB insider Jim Duquette.

Tucker is among the top free agents in the current class, and the Dodgers are a perfect fit as they look for a solution to their hole in the outfield. Michael Conforto played a majority of 2025 in left field, however his offensive woes and defensive regression left him off of the roster completely come October.

“A League source confirmed to me that the three main teams involved in the Tucker negotiations (Tor, LAD, NYM) have all met with the player, either in person or over Zoom, as part of the recruiting process for a star player,” Duquette wrote via X (formerly Twitter). “Will be interesting to see if any of the 3 teams increase their offers soon to separate themselves from the other.”

The Dodgers have shown in seasons past they have more than enough money to sign Tucker, whose market value sits at an eight-year, $320 million deal according to Spotrac, but their competitors have also spent aggressively in recent seasons and could just as well coerce the star in to joining them.

Toronto has made a couple of huge moves in the offseason already, signing starting pitcher Dylan Cease to a seven-year, $210 million deal and international slugger Kazuma Okamoto to a four-year contract. The Mets have been quieter this year, but their acquisition of Juan Soto prior to 2025 shows they’re willing to spend big for the best players in the game.

Tucker definitely fits the bill in that regard, as he has made each of the last four All-Star Games and has recorded 20 or more home runs in every season since breaking out in 2021. He slashed .266/.377/.464 in 2025 with 22 home runs and 73 RBIs through 136 games in 2025, and managed those numbers while playing through a fracture in his hand towards the middle of the season.

If the Dodgers can outbid their rivals and attract the superstar on a favorable deal, they’d take a massive step towards securing their third consecutive World Series championship — a feat accomplished by just two franchises until now.
