Dodgers’ Michael Grove Out for Entire 2025 Season After Undergoing Surgery

In February, manager Dave Roberts revealed the right-hander would not be ready for Opening Day as he was a month behind schedule in his throwing program. Grove was removed from the Dodgers’ playoff roster last season due to a shoulder injury.

The 28-year-old made 38 appearances last season, including two starts. Grove produced a 5.12 ERA with 54 strikeouts over 51 innings.

Grove was expected to make the big league roster, but he unfortunately will not be able to compete in 2025.

The Dodgers plan to have relievers Tanner Scott, Alex Vesia, Anthony Banda, Kirby Yates, and Blake Treinen open the season in the bullpen. There is currently a competition for the final three spots in the bullpen, but he race is quickly coming to its conclusion as the Dodgers travel to Japan Wednesday.

Some candidates to claim the final spots include Ben Casparius and non-roster invitees such as Luis Garcia and Giovanny Gallegos.

  1. Wow, and the dodgers let Buehler and flatery go. Couldn’t they learn from last season they can’t have too many pitchers because of injuries.

    1. Yes, and why so many injuries to pitchers on one team? Something is definitely not right with the method of Dodger pitching philosophy, young players are not being properly trained and developed or??? Something needs to change in Dodgertown and how pitching is approached, coached, and developed.
