Dodgers Named ‘Best Fit’ for Potential $400 Million Star Kyle Tucker in Free Agency

The Los Angeles Dodgers appear to be gearing up for another offseason of retooling their roster as they didn’t seem satisfied with just two consecutive championships at their recent World Series parade.

As the front office examines the ball club and looks to make the necessary changes, one area that is undoubtedly a facet of the team that needs improving is outfield depth and production.

Michael Conforto and Teoscar Hernández both had down years (with Conforto hitting .199 by season’s end), and each rank towards the bottom of MLB defensively. For these reasons and more, ESPN’s David Schoenfield recently labeled the Dodgers as a ‘best fit’ for Chicago Cubs All-Star Kyle Tucker.

Tucker is a four-time All-Star and will be 29 by the start of spring training. He spent the first seven years of his MLB career with the Houston Astros, and although he had a slightly down season with the Cubs in 2025, he did enough for another All-Star nod and his second Silver Slugger award.

The right fielder hit .266/.377/.464 with an OPS of .841, adding 22 home runs and 73 RBIs. He had a phenomenal first half of 2025, hitting .280 with a .882 OPS, but after fracturing his hand in June — and attempting to play through it — his production dropped.

Regardless, Tucker is projected to make as much as $400 million this offseason — and that is an area in which the Dodgers have shown to always have a significant edge in.

The Dodgers have never shied away from spending big, and for a player who can create a significant impact in an area of need for years to come, it seems like all signs are pointing to Tucker. Only time will tell if the Dodgers offer him the behemoth contract that is projected for him, or if the defending champions look to fill that void in more thrifty fashion.
