Dodgers News: Alex Wood Placed on DL; Brandon Morrow Recalled
Ouch.
Alex Wood, surprisngly the Dodgers best starter this season, will miss his next start. Wood was placed on the DL with inflammation. Brandon Morrow will fill his roster spot.
Alex Wood is going on the DL with left SC joint inflammation.

Wood told the Dodgers he could pitch through the issue, but the team wants to be careful. Hyun-Jin Ryu will likely start in his place.

If what McCullough said is true, this is minimally concerning. The Dodgers have been extremely cautious with their pitchers, perhaps overusing the new 10-day DL.
Wood is in the midst of his best season. The lefty is 6-0 with a 1.69 ERA. Acquired from Atlanta in the Hector Olivera trade, Wood might be Andrew Friedman’s greatest steal. Our Hunter Thompson reviewed that trade, and why the Dodgers wanted to add Wood.
It provides another opportunity for Ryu, who said he prefers starting to the bullpen. He’ll face a cold-hitting Cardinals team in St. Louis.
