Dodgers NL West Rival Diamondbacks Make First Big Move of Offseason, Trade for Eugenio Suarez
The MLB offseason is officially in full swing, and the reigning National League champion Arizona Diamondbacks just made a huge move. The team acquired third baseman Eugenio Suarez from the Seattle Mariners in the first big deal of the offseason. MLB insider Mark Feinsand was first to report the news.
Suarez was an All-Star back in 2018 with the Cincinnati Reds, but has continued to have a solid career since moving to Seattle.
Last year, Suarez played in all 162 games for the Mariners, and hit .232 with 22 home runs and 96 runs batted in.
Suarez is a prototypical hitter in today’s league, hitting home runs, driving in runs and striking out. He led the league with 214 strikeouts this season, but did have 70 walks.
The Diamondbacks are getting a very solid everyday player to man the hot corner moving forward, as they look to build upon a team that took down the Milwaukee Brewers, Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies en route to a World Series appearance.
The Diamondbacks traded reliever Carlos Vargas and catcher Seby Zavala.
The stove is officially hot in the MLB offseason, and the Dodgers’ direct competitors are starting to make moves.

Not a huge deal as he is not a great contact hitter.
