Dodgers NLDS Game 3 Broadcast Makes Last-Minute Change With Joe Davis Out

Los Angeles Dodgers play-by-play announcer Joe Davis will not commentate Game 3 of the NLDS on FOX Sports, per Andrew Marchand.

Davis, who has been the Dodgers’ play-by-play announcer since 2016 after stepping in for the legendary Vin Scully, reportedly lost his voice and is considered “day-to-day,” per Marchand.

In Davis’ place, seasoned sportscaster Kenny Albert will call Game 3.

How Did Joe Davis Get His Job With the Dodgers?

Davis first joined the team at SportsNet LA to serve as an alternate play-by-play announcer in Scully’s final season in the booth, and succeeded the legend in the following season.

He has since served as the Dodgers’ play-by-play man, spending more than a decade behind the microphone.

How Long Has Joe Davis Covered the Postseason?

Davis first covered the postseason for FOX Sports in 2017, and has been a key piece of the postseason broadcast team since. He officially took over as the lead play-by-play announcer in 2022, and made the final calls in each of the Dodgers’ most recent World Series triumphs.

Due to his affiliation with the Dodgers, Davis frequently comes under fire for perceived bias, which he vehemently denies.

“These are exciting, highly emotional times as fans. It’s what makes sports great that we all get a little irrational at points. Dodgers fans are going to get upset that I get excited for the other team. The other teams are going to be upset if I’m the Dodger guy,” Davis said after the 2025 postseason.

Davis’ presence in the booth will be missed for Game 3 of the series, but fans have his near return to look forward to as he recovers.
