Dodgers Notes: Kiké Hernandez Update After Latest Signing, Tanner Scott to LA?
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed Korean utility player Hyeseong Kim on Friday. Although Kim adds another dimension to the Dodgers’ roster, the signing could have negative implications on the fate of free agent Kiké Hernández this offseason.
While the Dodgers have continued to cement a concrete lineup, the team is still looking for another high-leverage arm in the bullpen. The latest prediction has the Dodgers signing lefty reliever Tanner Scott.

All I can say is if this deal for Kim involves not re-signing Kike I am 100% in disagreement with the decision on a multitude of levels. #1 Kim cannot even speak English vs someone who is one of the best clubhouse players in baseball.#2 Kike is also one of the best clutch hitters in baseball in the postseason if you’re trying to build a dynasty you keep guys like that around because they have the ability to ingnite the team with there bat and personality when the chips are down and it really counts. #3 is Chemistry which ties into everything. I have mentioned. You cannot put a price on that period. Guy deserves to be a Dodger and he is a major part of the cryptonite of this team. Not the player to let go if your building a dynasty. Special player David Freeze type just saying.
Kike is gold, when you need a spark for the team. Dodgers need to re-sign him ASAP.
Yes he is!!! Not sure why they don’t take care of what helped them to win two WS with Keki clutch hitting?? What’s up Dodgers????
I agree with you 100% Preston
Shohei Ohtani doesn’t speak English either. So…
The Dodgers can let someone else sign Kiké and trade for him at the deadline or sign him when he gets released. He’s been above average offensively in 2 of the last 9 regular seasons, 1 of the last 6. Over the last 3 seasons he’s been worth exactly 0 fWAR.
What exactly does Kike, need to do? Crowd favorite, plays 3 position at a high professional level, hits when all pressure on, locker room ambassador, just one great package. Sign him for chump change of his real value . We love LA, We love KIKE’ We Love Him !
Yeah thats a stupid aquisition
Amen Amen let it be so cutting kike loose would be one of the worst moves this amazing team could make a can do play anywhere with above average glove super heads up mind in the game spark plug for the team , he takes great at bats working the pitcher hard waiting for the mistake and taking advantage, Super clutch and attitude, don’t blow it by getting rid of this amazing Dodger, Nuf said, (named after Vin….)
I am in 100% in agreement with all the comments. It seems the Dodgers like to play games with fans feelings. They think they are cagey and clever as they throw away fan favorites. It will be hard to support a team that continue throwing away good familiar players. Tie up Kike and Kershaw first then go out and then be clever.
Kike Hernandez hit .240 with 77KO/30BB ratio…not good. Chris Taylor barely reached the Mendoza line (.202). Outman is a sub-.250 hitter. Actually, only the first five hitters (adding Edmon) in the Dodger lineup produced offensively.
Yes, Kike was a clutch hitter…but he is 33 years old. Give him another $4M/1yr…might need him for the playoffs.
IMHO, C.Taylor needs to bought out at $17M. Kim WAS a good addition…he CAN play defense and CAN hit.
Well said. Kike really turned it up with his new glasses. Found out he could not see well. A 1 -2 year deal sounds good. Preferably a 1 – year deal.
I think we trade Taylor and get something for him….similar to Lux today – for more prospects not on the 40 man
English??? Really? 1/3 of all mlb players are foreign players born outside of US. Kim brings speed, gold glove defense, and over .300 contact hitter. He’s bringing different dynamic to the team. Kike being 33 yrs old vs 25 yrd old Kim.
Why would you commit to a old aging backup player when you acquired up and coming young star to 5 yr deal?!?!?
Kiké is SUCH A FAN FAVORITE, and a great player along with it!! Dodgers… PLEASE don’t turn him loose elsewhere !! He would be SO missed!! He’s a shining star ? in so many ways!!
KiKe is OUR’s. I hope management doesn’t let him go again. He was a key factor on why WE are W.S. CHAMPIONS. Please do what needs to be done. He has proven to be one of the best clutch players in the postseason. He deserves a spot on the roster. DODGERS RULE !!!
I cannot believe that they have not signed KIKE!! They prefer a Korean that cannot speak English!! Kike is an asset to the Dodgers. The fans love Kike! He brings life to the games. But they are keeping Gavin Lyx and Chris Taylor really and not signing KIKE HERNANDEZ!! What a big mistake!!
Call me stop fooling around so I kick you Hernandez stop picking up all these rethreads. The guy showed what he can do and you’re not doing the right thing. You know nothing about baseball anyway sign them and get it over with you’re wasting a lot of time.
Like is a proven professional not to mention a fan FAV and in clubhouse as well! You can’t replace that easily or put a price on it. So get busy Dodgers and re-sign him as soonest!
Don’t rush to judgment, fans. Signing Kim means Lux is gone, possibly Taylor, and less likely but also possible, Pages. That leaves room to sign Kike. Gomes isn’t going to show his cards and jeopardize potential trades. I expect that Kike, like Kershaw, is hanging back to give AF maximum flexibility with the 40-man roster during trade & FA signing season. Also, even without signing Sasaki, there are 12 starting pitchers available, plus Outman, Rushing, Pages, and Feduccia languishing in AAA. Expect some of these assets to move, two- or three-for-one, to get one or two bullpen aces.
Why in the world is Dodger Management going out and bringing in this crap, when actually they already have the winning combination wanting to stay and play for them. Kike is one of the leaders of that winning combination!!!
Keep kike H.
Don’t continue considering kenley j.
Utterly foolish to let kike go. He’s not perfect, but he is a wonderful Dodger.
Trade Chris Taylor for prospects, sign Kike, and make Tanner Scott an offer he can’t refuse. Of course, the Dodgers would probably have to eat some of CT’s contract to trade him. Outman back to AAA to find his swing, Pages stays with big club, and in case of outfield injuries, bring up Varsho to see what he can do.
Dodgers dump wrong infielder!! Lux hit over
.300 second half of 24. One of our leading hitters. Muncy was 0 for the World Series, below ave defensively and he does NOT hit in the clutch!!! We have chance to acquire Nolan Arenado, Hall of Fame player, multi time gold glove winner and a clutch hitter. I realize he is not the Arenado of old but even in a down year he will out Muncy 60 or 70 points. He is from So Cal. He will do better here. Subtract Muncy salary from what is owed to Arenado subtract what the Cards will pay and I see Arenado as a steel.
