Dodgers’ Ohtani, Tucker Given Honor Before Monday’s Game

Los Angeles Dodgers All-Stars Shohei Ohtani and Kyle Tucker received their Silver Slugger awards for the 2025 season Monday.

The Silver Slugger award has been around since the 1980 season, and is given to the best offensive players in each league for every position. MLB has also given away a Team Silver Slugger award to the best offensive team in both leagues since 2023. The Dodgers have won the last two in the National League.

Tucker spent 2025 with the Chicago Cubs and had a fantastic offensive season despite playing through a hairline fracture in his hand for a portion of the season. He hit 22 homers and drove in 73 RBIs through 136 games, posting a .841 OPS. The New York Mets’ Juan Soto and the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Corbin Carroll also earned NL Silver Slugger awards in the outfield last season.

Ohtani stood alone as the best designated hitter in MLB last season, though, winning his third consecutive Silver Slugger. He posted an OPS north of 1.000 for the third consecutive season, setting a career high in home runs with 55. He also drove in 102 RBIs, and scored the most runs in MLB.

As a team, the Dodgers had the highest OPS and hit the most home runs in the National League last season, winning the award for the second consecutive year.

Which Current Dodgers Have a Silver Slugger?

Other than Ohtani and Tucker, several Dodgers have taken home a Silver Slugger.

Shortstop Mookie Betts has won the award on seven occasions, four of which came with the Dodgers after he came from the Boston Red Sox ahead of 2020.

Outfielder Teoscar Hernandez won his third Silver Slugger with the Dodgers in 2024 after winning the award in both 2020 and 2021.

First baseman Freddie Freeman hasn’t won the award with the Dodgers, but earned the hardware three times during his 12-year stint with the Atlanta Braves.

The Dodgers have a lineup full of veterans with big bats, and will inevitably add to LA’s vast collection of Silver Slugger awards at the end of the season. That’s not their focus, though, as the Dodgers are chasing a historic three-peat in 2026, and will put all of their energy towards winning the National League’s first back-to-back-to-back championship.

Their next challenge in their campaign to do so comes against the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. PT.
