Dodgers Players, Fans Share Admiration for Dave Roberts After 1,000th Win

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts notched his 1,000th win Tuesday night, achieving the feat faster than any manager before him.

“I mean, 1,000 didn’t even seem on my radar,” Roberts said, as reported by Sonja Chen of MLB.com. “That’s a long time of consistent winning, let alone keeping a job for 11 years. That’s just kind of the life I chose. But yeah, to kind of put your head down and look back and go, ‘Oh my god, I’m here,’ it’s mind-blowing.”

While Roberts may not have been thinking about that milestone too much, his players certainly were.

What did Dodgers players say about Dave Roberts’ 1,000th win?

“Getting to be the winning pitcher in his 1,000th win is super cool and something I kind of had in my mind entering today,” said starting pitcher Justin Wrobleski. “Can’t thank him enough for what he’s done for my career and my development. I really wanted to get this done for him.”

“Today is not about us. It’s about Doc and this big milestone for him,” added veteran infielder Miguel Rojas said. “He’s always the one raising a glass of champagne, or whatever, when guys accomplish something big in this game. … Like he said, coaches are really good because of really good players, and for him to say that, it means a lot to us in this clubhouse.”

Fans also thanked Roberts for his impact on the Dodgers.

What did fans say about Dave Roberts’ 1,000th win?

Commenters on the Dodgers Nation website were effusive in their praise for Roberts.

“Congrats to Dave on this achievement,” wrote Mike H. “For all the times I scratched my head or pulled my hair out over some of his decisions (2017 WS game 7 starter, 2018 WS game 4 going to pen when Hill had only allowed 2 hits, 2019 NLDS game 5 multiple bad decisions, 2022 NLDS epic fail vs. San Diego, whatever that was in 2023 vs AZ in NLDS sweep), I will forever give credit where due for a masterful use of the pen in the 2024 playoffs and march to the World Series championship. That [feat] was unimaginable and improbable. Backing that up with a win in 2025 gives Roberts a lot of leeway.”

“Good job, Dave. A great face of one of the most stable and well run organizations in the world,” added @Bluesdodgers3 on social media.

“Congrats Doc, you finally made the ‘winner’ part of your name official, not just a subtitle,” wrote @biggestwest. “Now the only thing missing is a statue that actually smiles.”

“Congrats Doc!!” contributed @0331KSR. “Let’s Go!”
