Dodgers Prospect Hurls Six No-Hit Innings at Triple-A
Before this season, Hyun-il Choi had not pitched about High-A. By his third Triple-A start this season, he looked like a seasoned veteran, pitching six no-hit innings for the Oklahoma City Baseball Club against the Salt Lake Bees on Saturday.
Choi struck out three and allowed four walks and a run in his best outing this season. The only blemish for him was in the top of the first inning when he walked the lead-off batter, Jordyn Adams, who came around to score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jason Martin.
The Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate took the combined no-hit bid into the ninth inning. Making his 2024 debut, left-hander Matt Gage followed Choi with a scoreless and hitless frame, striking out one. Ricky Vanasco kept the no-hitter alive striking out two in the eighth inning. Then in the ninth, John Rooney was tagged for two hits.
Unfortunately, Choi didn’t get a decision after pitching well enough to get the win. Oklahoma City allowed two runs in the ninth which tied the game.
The Dodgers reassigned Choi to Double-A Tulsa on Tuesday.

Huh? Choi throws 6 no-hit innings, then gets sent down? Was it the control issues? Or injury fill in ?
Maybe the author of the article should have mentioned Hyun-il Choi was the Dodger MiLB pitcher of the year for 2021, then had Tommy John surgery or maybe mention that this is the 6th and last year of his international free agent contract signed with the Dodger organization in 2018. Sending him down requires an explanation from someone in the FO, under oath. Who are the starting pitchers at OKC and at Tulsa these days?
