Dodgers Push Back Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s Next Scheduled Start

The Los Angeles Dodgers are pushing back right-handed pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s next scheduled start.

Yamamoto was initially supposed to start on Thursday against the Texas Rangers. Instead, he will start on Saturday against the Kansas City Royals. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Wednesday, including Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain, that he wanted to give Yamamoto an extra day of rest.

With Yamamoto moving to Saturday, here is how the Dodgers’ pitching staff will look this weekend against Kansas City:

  • Friday: Gavin Stone
  • Saturday: Yoshinobu Yamamoto
  • Sunday: Tyler Glasnow

With this new schedule, Thursday is shaping up to be a bullpen game for the series finale against the Rangers.

Yamamoto is coming off the best start of his young MLB career last Friday, when he threw seven shutout innings against the New York Yankees. Yamamoto threw a career-high 106 pitches, and allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Now, he’ll get an extra day of rest before his next start, where he’ll look to continue his hot streak. On the year, Yamamoto is 6-2 with a 3.00 ERA.

  1. I love Walker Buehlers fire! I wish more of our guys had his energy and compete. It’s exactly what our team is lacking, which is why we lose to teams like the Pads.
