Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Brock Stewart has been hurt since August, and is beginning to take steps towards his return.
MLB.com’s Sonja Chen reports Stewart will face hitters Friday as well as Tuesday, and the right-hander believes he’ll be ready for a rehab assignment afterwards.
Stewart came back to LA at the trade deadline in 2025, but made just four appearances out of the bullpen before landing on the injured list in August. The Orange County Register’s Bill Plunkett reported Stewart was on track to return in the first half during spring training, and the right-hander seems to be trending in the right direction for that to happen.
With the Dodgers last season, Stewart had a 4.91 ERA and struck out three batters through 3.2 innings. He finished the year with a 2.63 ERA, as he had a 2.38 mark with the Minnesota Twins before being traded.
Stewart began his MLB career with the Dodgers, making his debut for the team in 2016. He played in LA until the Toronto Blue Jays claimed him off waivers in 2019, but didn’t play in MLB again until 2023 after that season due to a stint in an independent league and a year-long injury.
The Twins gave him another shot in MLB in 2023, and he’s remained in MLB since.

What Role Will Brock Stewart Fill in the Dodgers’ Bullpen?
At the moment, the Dodgers have plenty of right-handed, high-leverage arms in their bullpen, so it may be hard for Stewart to immediately break his way back in.
Other than closer Edwin Diaz, the Dodgers have Blake Treinen, Will Klein, Ben Casparius and Edgardo Henriquez available as righties out of the pen. Stewart will have to put an impressive rehab assignment together to instantly insert himself back into the team as a viable option in important games, and will look to do just before his return.
Having been placed on the injured list retroactive to March 22, the earliest Stewart would be able to return to the team is April 6.
Do you think Brock Stewart will be able to reclaim the same role he had with the Dodgers before he went down with injury?
