No one has a perspective on the Los Angeles Dodgers quite like team reporter Kirsten Watson.
She’s there with questions and a microphone every time a pitcher slams the door shut on an opponent with a ninth-inning strikeout or a hitter blasts a game-winning homer, and she recently spoke with Dodgers Nation’s Noel Sanchez in an exclusive interview.
Watson shared with Dodgers Nation her insider tips on how to avoid a Gatorade bath, the three stadiums that she loves to visit, and much more.
Gatorade bath avoidance
In Watson’s job, ninth-inning comebacks create great opportunities for interviews, but there are definitely some hazards involved.
One of those is avoiding the Gatorade baths that will douse a player following a game-winning hit.
Watson has developed some solid anticipatory skills when it comes to those baths, something she told Noel is just a matter of “keeping one eye open.”
“We didn’t really have a lot of like Gatorade showers for a while, and I’ve realized it’s the guys from certain clubs that are doing it,” she explained. “Like Alex Call, I always keep an eye on him. He’s very likely to do it for a walk-off. I’ve realized with translators, that’s where I get stuck because I’m so focused on the two of them that I’m not able to keep an eye out. But yeah, it’s more of just trying to keep one eye peeled.”

Watson also picked her three favorite ballparks to visit when the Dodgers are on the road, and the answers might surprise fans of the Boys in Blue.
Petco Park in San Diego
It might be surprising to some, but the Dodgers’ SoCal rival knows how to host a baseball game, Watson said.
“Great food options, great cool breeze,” she said. “It’s beautiful. It is what it is. We accept it for what it is.”
Citi Field in New York City
Watson noted that another National League team, the New York Mets, treat reporters quite well.
“Incredible food options as well,” she said. “I also, little sneaky thing I love about them, they have the popular stadium food options in the press box, which is clutch.”
Yankee Stadium in New York City
Finally, Watson listed the other stadium in the Big Apple, and for a similar reason.
“Is it going to be bad if I say more food options? But that really is what it’s about for me,” she said. “
That said, Watson was clear which stadium truly has her heart.
“Dodger Stadium is No. 1.”
