Dodgers Rumors: L.A. Interested in Tom Koehler
The Dodgers are expected to add to their bullpen by the trade deadline. One option could be in South Florida.
Los Angeles has expressed interested in Marlins righty Tom Koehler, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.
The Marlins could trade Tom Koehler, whose surprising demotion/DL stint could signal his time in Miami is done: https://t.co/cX38s5HgRd

“Koehler will come off the disabled list shortly and the Marlins are actively looking for a taker,” Cafardo writes. “The big righthander was 1-2 with a 7.04 ERA in eight starts before going down with a shoulder injury. The Dodgers have shown interest in Koehler as a reliever and the Red Sox have had at least internal discussions about him.”
The Marlins possess one of the MLB’s least enviable pitching outlooks, so shopping Koehler doesn’t speak well of him. He was about to be sent to Triple-A before hitting the DL with right shoulder bursitis. It appears Miami may have upped its efforts to deal him while he’s inactive.
While 2017 hasn’t been kind to Koehler, he’s recently been a consistent innings eater. The 30-year-old has notched inning totals of 143, 191.1, 187.1 and 176.2 in the last four seasons. He’s capable of starting or featured in long-relief. Think Ross Stripling-mold.
Koehler has the profile of a pitcher the Dodgers would like. The team isn’t exactly starving for depth right now, but if Miami is selling low, Los Angeles doesn’t turn down value. The organization has gotten the most out of its arms recently, and Koehler could be another asset to the “stacking starters” philosophy the team is testing.
Chris Taylor just keeps hitting
With the 2nd lowest bullpen era do the Dodgers really need another pitcher? Whose spot would he take? I thought they needed to trade away some pitchers because they have too many?!
