The Los Angeles Dodgers made a trade with the Colorado Rockies Monday, receiving right-hander Seth Halvorsen from their NL West opponents.
In exchange, the Dodgers sent over former No. 2 prospect right-hander Nick Frasso and Single-A outfielder Landyn Vidourek.
Halvorsen, 26, has been with the Rockies for the entirety of his three-year MLB career, posting a 4.31 ERA through 75 games played, more than half of which came in unfavorable conditions at Coors Field. He had a solid first season in the majors, posting a 1.46 ERA through 12 games, but has hovered close to 5.00 for the past two seasons.
During the Rockies’ disaster season in 2025, Halvorsen appeared in 42 games while posting a 4.99 ERA. He struck out 36 batters in 39.2 innings pitched last season. He spent the entirety of the season on the MLB roster, though missed the last couple of months of the season due to a right elbow strain.
This year, Halvorsen has made 21 appearances and pitched a total of 19 innings. He has allowed 10 earned runs during that time for a 4.74 ERA and has 17 strikeouts.

The Dodgers are still without a few key right-handed relief arms, so adding Halvorsen could make a big difference while Edwin Diaz and Blake Treinen make their recoveries.
Halvorsen throws extremely hard, ranking in the top 2% of MLB players with an average of 98.8 miles per hour on his fastball. Despite the velocity he generates, he also allows barrels at just a 6.3% rate, which is well above league average.
The right-hander has struggled with control this season, walking 15 batters, but has shown he has the ability to be a big league pitcher in the past.
Who Did the Dodgers Trade for Seth Halvorsen?
The Dodgers received Frasso, 27, in a 2022 minor league deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. He has pitched in Oklahoma City since 2023, and has shown plenty of promise over the past two seasons. His ERA numbers are likely a little inflated due to the hitting conditions in the Pacific Coast League, posting a 5.49 mark last season through 43 games and a 4.74 ERA through 21 games this year, but he has 108 strikeouts in 94.2 innings across both years.
Vidourek is a recent Dodgers draftee, being taken in the third round of the 2025 draft. He has played 59 games with Single-A Ontario this season, hitting six homers and driving in 24 RBIs with a .643 OPS.
