Dodgers Shopping Veterans, Including $4.5M Reliever, As LA Looks to Make Trades
The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to make some trades to clear 40-man roster spots for their impending signings.
Three players — Roki Sasaki, Tanner Scott, and Kirby Yates — need to be added to the Dodgers’ 40-man roster in the coming days. Thus, the front office is looking to make some trades to clear spots, rather than losing players for nothing.
One veteran the Dodgers are known to be shopping is right-handed pitcher Ryan Brasier. According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, the Dodgers are looking to move him and his $4.5 million salary for the 2025 season.
Brasier, 37, joined the Dodgers midway through the 2023 season. Last year, he dealt with injuries, appearing in just 29 games and sporting a 3.54 ERA.
In 2023, he was released by the Boston Red Sox after sporting a 7.29 ERA across 20 games. After joining the Dodgers, he had a 0.70 ERA across 39 games.
However, with the impending signings of Scott and Yates, the Dodgers don’t have a need for Brasier. Instead, they can look to save a little money by dealing him to a team in need of an above-average middle reliever or setup man.
Other potential players the Dodgers could look to trade are right-handed pitcher Michael Grove and outfielder Chris Taylor. However, it’s very unlikely the Dodgers find a landing spot for Taylor unless they pay down some of his salary, while also attaching a prospect.
Update: With the Sasaki signing now official, the Dodgers have a full 40-man roster. To add Scott and Yates, the Dodgers will need to clear two spots.

Les Dodgers n’ont pas à placer Sasaki sur la liste de 40 joueurs, pour l’instant, car il a un contrat de ligues mineures.
