The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled right-hander Landon Knack from Triple-A Oklahoma City for their series finale against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday.
In a corresponding move, the Dodgers surprisingly optioned right-hander Seth Halvorsen back to Triple-A.
Knack began 2026 on the injured list after suffering an intercostal strain during spring training, and didn’t appear for the Dodgers until July. He returned to the Dodgers July 11, pitching three innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks and allowing three runs while striking out two batters.
The right-hander returned nine days later to pitch against the Philadelphia Phillies, and allowed two runs across two innings while striking out two more batters. On the year, he has a 9.00 ERA through five innings pitched.
The Dodgers sent him down the following day, and he has been with Triple-A Oklahoma City since.
Knack pitched twice after returning to the minors, once as a starter and again in long relief. He pitched 10.1 innings across those two outings, allowing just two earned runs during that span. He struck out nine batters during that time.
Before this season, Knack pitched in parts of 2024 and 2025 for the Dodgers—making a total of 25 appearances. His best year came in 2024, when he pitched 15 times and struck out 69 batters in as many innings with a 3.65 ERA.
Last year, Knack pitched 10 times and had a 4.89 ERA through 42.1 innings pitched while striking out 42 batters.
How Did Seth Halvorsen Pitch for the Dodgers?
Halvorsen arrived in Los Angeles in July, coming from the Colorado Rockies in a trade for Nick Frasso and Landyn Vidourek.
The right-hander performed well in his six games with Triple-A Oklahoma City after the trade, keeping opponents scoreless through 6.1 innings while striking out eight batters.
He made his Dodgers debut against the Royals on Tuesday, keeping a scoreless inning in extras and earning his first win with LA. The Dodgers’ decision is a strange one, given how strong Halvorsen looked against the Royals on Tuesday, but keeping their bullpen rested is likely their top priority.
The Dodgers’ bullpen has struggled to keep things under control as of late, and they’ll hope Knack’s addition gives them some stability for the final game of their series—which begins at 7:10 p.m. PT Wednesday.
