Dodgers Sign Gio Cueto to Free Agent Contract

After going undrafted in the 2024 Major League Baseball Draft, former Stetson Hatter Gio Cueto inked a free-agent contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Cueto played in 62 of Stetson’s 63 games, helping the Hatters to their first ASUN title and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder transferred to Stetson after two seasons at Wake Forest. He appeared in 53 games across 2022 and 2023 with the Demon Deacons, reaching the College World Series during Cueto’s sophomore campaign.

Cueto’s experience paid off for the Hatters. He hit .283 with three home runs and was second on the team with 45 runs batted in. His on-base percentage was .411. Defensively, he finished the season with a fielding percentage of .988 with six errors.

During the postseason, he batted .267 and recorded a hit and an RBI in all four of his ASUN Tournament games. He was 2-for-10 in the NCAA Tournament.
