Dodgers Sign Recently DFA’d Veteran to Minor League Contract

The Dodgers have signed former Detroit Tigers and Oakland A’s pitcher Zach Logue to a minor league contract. He’ll head to Triple-A Oklahoma City, according to broadcaster Alex Freedman, and join his second organization this season after recently being designated for assignment for the Atlanta Braves.

Logue, a 28-year-old left-hander, is 3-8 with a 6.88 ERA in 17 games (10 starts) in 68 major league innings from 2022-23.

Logue has been playing professionally since 2017, when he was taken in the ninth round of the 2017 draft by the Blue Jays. He made his big league debut in 2022 with the A’s in 2022, who acquired Logue in the trade that sent Matt Chapman to Toronto. Logue went 3-8 with a 6.79 ERA that season in Oakland, making 17 appearances at the Triple-A level and 14 in the majors.

In Dec. 2022, the Tigers claimed Logue off waivers and got him into three games out of their bullpen that year (0-0, 7.36 ERA). At Triple-A, Logue went 3-10 last year with a 6.58 ERA.

In Dec. 2023, Logue signed as a free agent with the Braves and split the 2024 season between Triple-A Gwinnett and Double-A Mississippi. He combined to go 5-6 with a 2.58 ERA in 24 games (12 starts) across the two levels. He was designated for assignment and elected free agency last Thursday.

A native of Mason, Ohio, Logue pitched collegiately at the University of Kentucky. According to his college profile page, Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw is his favorite professional athlete.
