Dodgers Sign Right-Handed Pitcher, Infielder as Offseason Continues

The Los Angeles Dodgers signed two more players to minor league contracts this week. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported the team signed right-handed pitcher Justin Jarvis. The Dodgers have also signed infielder Aaron Bracho to a minor league contract.

The Dodgers have now signed three players to minor league contracts this season, after previously signing left-handed reliever Joe Jacques to a minor league contract over the weekend.

Jarvis joins the Dodgers after most recently playing for the New York Mets. Jarvis began his career with the Milwaukee Brewers when they drafted him in the fifth round of the 2018 MLB Draft. Jarvis spent the first five years of his career with the Brewers before they traded him to the Mets in July 2023 for outfielder Mark Canha.

Jarvis, who has yet to make his MLB debut, finished his 2023 season with the Mets’ Triple-A affiliate, going 0-5 with an 8.04 ERA and 36 strikeouts over nine starts. He began the 2024 season with the Mets’ Double-A affiliate, going 5-2 with a 2.90 ERA and 45 strikeouts over 10 appearances and five starts. When Jarvis was bumped back up to Triple-A, he did not experience the same success. He went 1-3 with a 5.98 ERA and 39 strikeouts over 46.2 innings.

Bracho comes to the Dodgers after previously spending his entire career with the Cleveland Guardians. The 23-year-old also has not made his MLB debut, but gives the Dodgers a promising prospect for their aging infield. Bracho signed with Cleveland out of Venezuela in 2017, and has spent the last two seasons with Cleveland’s Double-A affiliate.

During the 2023 season, Bracho slashed .245/.340/.441 with 90 hits, 50 runs, 18 home runs, and 59 RBIs over 104 games. In 2024, Bracho did see some of his numbers regress as he slashed .221/.296/.338 with 79 hits, 41 runs, eight home runs, and 49 RBIs. He has been assigned to Double-A Tulsa.
