Dodgers’ Starting Pitcher Revealed for Elimination Game 4 vs Padres
The Los Angeles Dodgers are going with a bullpen game for their win-or-go-home Game 4 against the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night.
While Dave Roberts confirmed on Wednesday it would be a bullpen game, he didn’t yet know who would be “starting”.
Now, it has been revealed.
The Padres have been informed that right-handed reliever Ryan Brasier is opening for the Dodgers in Game 4, per USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.
The Padres’ top of the order is Luis Arraez, Fernando Tatis Jr., Jurickson Profar, and Manny Machado. Here are Brasier’s stats against each of them in his regular season career:
Arraez: 0-for-2
Tatis: 1-for-4, home run, two runs batted in, one strikeout
Profar: 0-for-2, one strikeout
Machado: 1-for-7, one run batted in, two strikeouts
This series, Arraez is 0-for-1 against Brasier, Tatis and Profar are 0-for-2 against Brasier, and Machado is 1-for-2 against him with a single.
The Dodgers will be lookin for a clean inning from Brasier in the bottom of the first in this win-or-go-home game. They’ll also hope he’s pitching with a lead after their top of the order gets a chance to bat first in the top half of the inning.
Brasier will likely get the first inning in what will be a bullpen game for L.A. If anyone gets the bulk of the game, it will likely be Landon Knack. However, with the Dodgers on the brink of elimination, they’ll likely be strategic in how long they leave their pitchers out there. Dave Roberts and co. will throw everything they have at San Diego on Wednesday to keep their season alive.
