After a long offseason of waiting, Hernández and the Dodgers have finally reached agreement on a contract that will keep him in Los Angeles for the next three seasons.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports Hernández’s deal has a fourth year option for $15 million, a little more than $23 million in deferred money, and a $23 million signing bonus.
Hernández made it clear all along his No. 1 priority was to return to the Dodgers in free agency. However, the contract talks took much longer to develop than initially expected, as the two sides couldn’t agree on various parts of the deal.
In the end, though, the two sides found common ground, and Hernández will now remain in Los Angeles for the next three seasons, and potentially a fourth.
Hernández joined the Dodgers on a one-year deal to reestablish his value in free agency. He did just that and more, playing a pivotal role in the Dodgers’ World Series run.
Hernández appeared in 154 regular season games, slashing .272/.339/.501 with 33 home runs, 99 RBIs, and an OPS of .840. In the postseason, Hernández had three home runs and an OPS of .769.
A reunion with Hernández made sense for a ton of reasons, one of them being L.A. had a huge need for another outfield bat. Now, Hernández will join Tommy Edman and Michael Conforto in the outfield to finalize a formidable lineup in Los Angeles for years to come.

Woo hoo!
HAPPY NEW YEAR DODGERNATION!!!!! Now just need one more player to join the party to get the gang back. Kike where are you?
Yes bring back Kike. His OPS during the playoffs was .808, on par with MVP Freddie.
YES!!!
That defensive lineup looks like trouble. No one playing center and two guys at SS
Reply edited out because no sense of humor??
Noah Camras in center field.
Cool, glad to have him back, and for the same money was was previously rumored. Now if they can at least get 3, maybe 4 guys on the pitching staff who can go 145+ innings. No slight to the pitchers, more to the coaching staff and the modern game.
First 5, maybe 6 in the lineup looks like it might be pretty intimidating to an opposing pitcher. Not that it will feel like a sure thing to me as a fan, but the opposing team and I view it from a different perspective.
Nice job Dodgers! Now lets get Sasaki!!
Thank you Andrew Friedman. Teoscar is a huge part of the Dodgers success. Now, if you could sign Ha Seong Kim to play shortstop, I don’t see a better team in baseball. OK, they’re the best team with or without Kim.
